During a parliamentary session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly criticized the Opposition for repeatedly interrupting External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar while he was briefing the House about Operation Sindoor. Jaishankar was addressing claims made by former US President Donald Trump regarding a supposed ceasefire mediation between India and Pakistan.Jaishankar clarified that there had been no communication between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump from April 22 to June 17, countering the mediation claims. His remarks led to loud protests from Opposition members. At this point, Amit Shah stood up and rebuked the Opposition, saying they were undermining their own foreign minister while showing more trust in statements from other countries. He remarked that such behavior was the reason the Opposition remained on the benches they currently occupy and would likely continue to do so for the next 20 years. He revealed that US Vice President JD Vance had called Prime Minister Modi to warn about a potential large-scale attack from Pakistan, to which Modi had firmly responded that India would retaliate strongly.
However, India made it clear that any ceasefire proposal would only be considered if conveyed through the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) channel. As the disruptions continued, Shah again intervened, criticizing the Opposition for not allowing an important discussion to proceed. He stated that while the government had patiently listened to the Opposition during their speeches, they now refused to hear the truth.
