The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has agreed to the demands of protesters, announcing that the exams will now be conducted on a single day, addressing concerns raised by candidates regarding the previous scheduling issues.

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has agreed to the demands raised by protesting aspirants and announced that the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) preliminary exam will now be conducted in a single day. This decision follows significant demonstrations outside the UPPSC headquarters in Prayagraj, where thousands of candidates had gathered on November 11, 2024, to voice their objections to the previous exam schedule. The aspirants were protesting the plan to hold the Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) examination, as well as the PCS preliminary examination, on different dates and across multiple shifts, which they claimed would create inconsistencies and unfair conditions.

UPPSC Secretary Ashok Kumar, addressing the gathered students in Prayagraj after four consecutive days of protests, confirmed the revision of the schedule to a single-day format for the PCS preliminary exam. In addition, he announced that a committee has been established to review the current structure of the RO/ARO examination. This committee will assess all relevant factors and provide a detailed report to the Commission to ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation process moving forward.

This decision marks a significant response to the aspirants’ concerns and reflects an effort by the Commission to maintain trust and transparency in the examination process. The move aims to standardize the evaluation procedure and alleviate worries related to exam scheduling and equity for all candidates.
